The Mec-Gar P229 17-round magazine is designed for newer Sig Sauer P229 and P229 E2 pistols that have the wider tapered magazine well. With 17 rounds in a package that's only 5/8 inch longer than flush-fit magazines, you get genuine capacity increase without the bulk. The magazine uses heat-treated carbon steel construction with an anti-friction coating that makes loading easier and prevents corrosion from daily use.
Mec-Gar manufactures the factory magazines for Sig Sauer, and has been making magazines since 1965. Their aftermarket versions for the P229 use the same engineering and quality standards, with the added benefit of the anti-friction coating and the plus-two baseplate. The high-impact polymer follower sits inside a machine-welded steel tube that's heat-treated for strength, paired with a high-tensile music wire spring that maintains proper tension through hundreds of cycles. Witness holes on both sides let you see your round count at a glance.
This magazine fits the newer generation P229 and P229 E2 pistols with the wider, tapered P229-1 magazine well. If you have an older original P229 with the narrower flat-sided magazine, this won't fit. But for modern P229 platforms including the P229 Legion, the M11-A1, and other variants using the P229-1 style well, these mags run flawlessly out of the box. The extended baseplate also serves as a useful grip extension during rapid reloads.
