A good vertical grip changes how a precision rifle feels in your hands, and the MDT Vertical Grip Elite is one of the most adjustable options out there for the AR15 grip interface. Instead of locking your hand into one fixed spot, this grip lets you fine-tune both the distance and the angle from your palm to the trigger. That means you can set your trigger finger up for a straight, 90 degree press, which pays off in cleaner breaks and more consistent groups downrange.
The adjustment is where this grip earns its keep. You get about 3/8 inch (10mm) of forward and backward travel to match your hand size and reach, plus up to 10 degrees of rearward angle if you like your grip kicked slightly off vertical for wrist comfort during long sessions behind the rifle. Once you find your sweet spot, it stays put. This is the kind of tweak that makes a bench rest or prone position feel natural instead of forced.
Underneath the rubber is a 6061 aluminum core, so there's real backbone here rather than a hollow plastic shell. The rubber overmold is comfortable and the molded grooves and external texturing give you a non-slip hold whether your hands are cold, sweaty, or gloved up. Worth knowing before you order: the Elite runs larger than MDT's Premier grip, which makes it a solid pick if you've got bigger hands or just prefer more to hold onto.
This is the Standard Chassis Rifle version, and it plays nice with the whole MDT chassis lineup aside from the XRS, which ships with its own grip. Beyond MDT hardware, it drops onto any chassis or rifle that accepts a standard AR15 grip, so Ruger Precision Rifles and similar builds are fair game too. If you're upgrading a chassis rig or a custom AR build, it's a straightforward swap that makes a noticeable difference in control.
You can shift the grip forward or backward about 3/8 inch (10mm) to match your hand size and reach to the trigger. It also tilts up to 10 degrees rearward from vertical if you prefer a slight off-vertical angle for wrist comfort. Together these let you set up a clean 90 degree trigger press.
This Standard Chassis Rifle version works with the full MDT chassis lineup except the XRS, which already comes with its own grip. It also mounts to any chassis or rifle that accepts a standard AR15 grip, including popular setups like the Ruger Precision Rifle. If your rig takes an AR15 grip, you're good to go.
The Elite is the larger of the two grips, so it's the better call if you have bigger hands or just like more to hold onto. Both are built around the same adjustable philosophy, but the Elite gives you more grip volume and a fuller feel in the hand.
