Description

The MDT Fuzion is MDT's first swing at the bolt-action world, carried over from the Lone Peak Arms actions MDT picked up after acquiring the Utah custom shop. This .223 bolt face short action is cut from pre-hardened 416R stainless steel, which is about as good as it gets when you want something that stays dimensionally stable round after round. Whether you're putting together a dedicated PRS rig, a trainer, or a lightweight varmint build, this is the kind of action people base a whole rifle around.

What Sets the Fuzion Action Apart

The big draw here is the integral design. The 20 MOA Picatinny rail and recoil lug are machined right into the receiver, so there are no separate pieces to loosen up or shift on you under recoil. That gives you a rigid, repeatable platform for your optic and keeps your zero honest no matter how many rounds you run. Inside, you get a one-piece 4340 chrome-moly bolt with a fluted, nitride finish, EDM-cut raceways for a smooth bolt throw, and a mini M-16 style extractor for reliable extraction.

Building on the Fuzion .223

This one runs the Remington 700 footprint, which is the most widely supported standard in precision rifle building. That means your choice of stocks, chassis, triggers, and bottom metal is wide open, including MDT's own chassis lineup. The short action setup pairs naturally with .223 Remington and other short-action cartridges, and the magazine cut supports a DBM setup with AICS-pattern mags or a flush internal magazine. The 75 degree bolt throw shortens your lift for better optics clearance and quicker follow-up shots.

A side bolt release makes pulling the bolt for cleaning quick and painless, and the lightweight firing pin assembly shortens lock time for more consistent ignition. It ships right-handed with the nitrided finish that fights off rust and wear without messing with your tolerances. If you've been waiting on a custom-grade action that won't give you headaches over a long season, the Fuzion earns its spot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rifle footprint does the MDT Fuzion use?

The Fuzion is built on the Remington 700 footprint, which is the most widely supported standard in the precision rifle world. That gives you a huge selection of compatible stocks, chassis, triggers, and bottom metal to build with, including MDT's own chassis systems. If a part fits a Rem 700, it should work here.

What cartridges will this .223 Fuzion action handle?

This model has a .223 bolt face and is a short action, so it's set up for .223 Remington and similar cartridges that fit the short-action envelope. The magazine cut supports either a DBM setup running AICS-pattern mags or a flush internal magazine. You'll just want to match your barrel and magazine to the chambering you're building.

Why is 416R stainless steel a big deal on the Fuzion?

416R pre-hardened stainless is widely considered the benchmark for precision actions because it stays dimensionally stable under high round counts. That means your tolerances hold up through a full competition season instead of loosening over time. The nitride finish on top adds rust and wear resistance without changing those tight tolerances.

Does the Fuzion come with a trigger or barrel?

No, this is the action itself and not a complete rifle or barreled action. You'll add your own trigger, barrel, chassis or stock, and bottom metal to finish the build. Since it runs the Rem 700 footprint, sourcing those parts is about as easy as it gets.
