The MDT LSS Gen 3 Tactical is a modular chassis kit that drops your Remington 700 short action barreled action into a rigid aluminum home built for real accuracy and real-world abuse. The magic behind the Gen 3 is its three-piece architecture. Your action bolts into the center base and stays put, while the forend, buttstock interface, and grip all attach at either end. That means you can reconfigure the rifle for a different job later without touching your zero, which is a big deal if you like one rifle to wear a few different hats.
This kit ships pre-configured to feel a lot like an AR-15 you already know, just with bolt-action precision underneath. The SCS buttstock gives you tool-free control over length of pull, cheek height, and buttpad position, so you can dial in your fit right there at the bench. Up front, the Tactical forend carries M-LOK slots on all five faces plus a top Picatinny section, giving you room to hang a bipod, weights, a sling, a light, or a night vision clip-on. There is also an integrated barricade stop built into the front of the magwell for locking onto props.
The LSS Gen 3 runs standard AICS-pattern magazines, so if your donor rifle uses a blind or hinged floorplate, this converts it over to detachable box mags. Pulling those mags is easy thanks to the ambidextrous mag latch you nudge forward with your trigger finger. Inside, an aluminum V-block cradles the action for consistent, repeatable barrel alignment, and there is no gunsmithing involved. Bolt in the barreled action, secure it, attach the stock and grip, and you are shooting.
MDT built this as a platform, not a dead end. New grip, different forend, a stock better suited to a new discipline, all of it swaps out down the line. The chassis is finished in a durable black Cerakote and, true to the Tactical name, this one leans rugged rather than featherweight. Yes, this kit is built specifically for right-hand Remington 700 short action rifles and most Rem 700 short action clones. You drop the barreled action into the V-block, torque it down, and attach the stock and grip with no gunsmithing needed. Most builders have their rifle assembled in well under half an hour.
