Description
Wood stocks have always looked the part, but they've never quite kept up with the accuracy of a modern chassis. The MDT Timbr Core changes that. Underneath the smooth walnut exterior sits an aluminum micro-chassis with a V-block bedding system that locks your barreled action in place for a precise, repeatable fit. You skip the bedding job, skip the gunsmith, torque down the screws and head to the range. Because every stock is cut from a real walnut blank, the grain and color are unique to your rifle, so no two look exactly alike.
What the Timbr Core Brings to Your Ruger American
This inlet is cut specifically for the Ruger American short action in right-hand configuration. MDT reshaped a traditional sporter profile with more usable geometry: the comb is raised to line up better behind an optic, and the belly is flattened so it sits nicely on a rear bag. There's a 68-degree grip angle borrowed from MDT's chassis line, a soft rubber recoil pad, and laser texturing on the grip and forend for a solid hold in any weather. The barrel channel is generous enough to free-float contours all the way up to a Proof Sendero, which is far more than most wood stocks will clear.
Dialing In Fit With the Timbr Core
Length of pull is adjustable through a set of quarter-inch spacers, giving you a range of roughly 13.6 to 14.6 inches so you can set it up for your build and shooting style. Integrated QD sling studs on the rear and dual studs up front let you run a bipod and a field sling at the same time.
One thing to know before you order: the Timbr Core requires a bottom metal to run AICS-pattern magazines, and that's sold separately. It pairs with MDT's Core, Hunting, or Precision bottom metal, along with any Badger M5 profile bottom metal. Wood also does a nice job soaking up recoil impulse, which keeps you settled on target for faster follow-up shots. It's a great pick for the hunter or range shooter who wants that classic wood look without giving up modern precision.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Timbr Core come with a bottom metal or magazine?
No. This listing is for the walnut stock only. The Timbr Core needs a bottom metal to run AICS-pattern magazines, and it works with MDT's Core, Hunting, or Precision bottom metal as well as any Badger M5 profile bottom metal. You'll want to grab one of those plus your magazines to complete the build.
Do I need to bed the action or have a gunsmith install it?
No bedding or gunsmithing is required. The aluminum micro-chassis with V-block bedding is built right into the stock, so you drop in your action and bottom metal and torque the screws down. Installation on the Ruger American is straightforward, though you will need to reinstall the magazine latch since the rear action screw sits beneath it.
Will this fit my Ruger American short action rifle?
This inlet is cut specifically for the Ruger American short action in right-hand configuration. It is not designed for long-action Ruger American rifles or left-hand actions. Confirm your rifle is a short-action right-hand model before ordering.
How big of a barrel will the Timbr Core clear?
The barrel channel free-floats contours all the way up to a Proof Sendero profile, which is heavier than what most traditional wood stocks can handle. That gives you plenty of room for a factory sporter barrel or a heavier aftermarket contour. Nothing should touch the wood if your barrel is within that range.
