The MDT Field Stock takes the Howa 1500 short action (and the Weatherby Vanguard short action that shares the same footprint) and gives it the backbone of a true chassis without giving up the familiar feel of a traditional stock. At the heart of it sits a 6061 aluminum core with V-block bedding, which lets you torque the action down for a rock-solid connection while the barrel floats free. If your Howa has been running a hinged floorplate or a proprietary mag, the Field Stock swaps you over to reliable, widely available AICS-pattern magazines with no gunsmithing and no extra bottom metal to buy. Feeding gets more consistent, and you can carry the capacity you want. Install is about as simple as it gets: drop the action in place and snug down two action screws.
This stock is built to fit you, not the other way around. The length of pull adjusts from roughly 13.5 to 14.5 inches using a spacer system, and the toolless cheek riser gets your eye lined up behind the scope the same way every time. That repeatable cheek weld is a bigger deal than people expect, especially when you're stretching out to longer distances.
M-LOK slots run along the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions on the forend, so bolting on a bipod, an ARCA rail for a tripod, or other gear is straightforward. Sling swivel studs on both the forend and buttstock cover slings and traditional bipod mounts too. Overall length is 32.22 inches and the forend clears barrels up to 1.250 inches in diameter, giving heavier profiles plenty of room to breathe.
