The MDT SCS Skeleton Carbine Stock is one of those upgrades you feel the first time you shoulder the rifle. MDT machined the body from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum and skeletonized it to shave weight without giving up rigidity, so it locks up solid with no slop or rattle. The whole point here is getting the stock to fit you instead of the other way around, and the SCS gives you more ways to do that than just about anything in its class. It attaches through MDT's carbine and collapsible buttstock interface, which is modeled after the standard AR-15 buffer tube pattern, and it works across MDT's chassis systems as well as modern sporting rifles when paired with the correct buffer hardware.
Every adjustment on this stock is built around repeatable, tool-less tuning. The length of pull moves a full inch on a thumbwheel and locks down with thumb screws or set screws, both of which come in the box. The buttpad drops in with an integrated cheek riser that adjusts 1.5 inches for height, and the pad itself moves up and down and cants 10 degrees left or right so it seats into your shoulder pocket exactly how you want it. Fine adjustments like these are the difference between hunting for your cheek weld and finding it the same way every single time.
MDT finished the aluminum in Cerakote for a durable, low-glare surface, and the Flat Dark Earth color keeps things subdued out in the field. You get two QD attachment points for slings and an M-LOK slot on the bottom foot for a bag rider or other accessory. This is a stock originally designed for precision chassis rifles, so it brings that same level of adjustability and repeatability to whatever platform you mount it on. If you are chasing consistency behind the trigger, the SCS is a serious piece of hardware that competes directly with stocks like the Magpul PRS while offering its own take on fit and feel.
The SCS uses MDT's carbine interface, which is modeled after the standard AR-15 buffer tube pattern, so it will mount to AR-style platforms with the correct buffer hardware. Keep in mind it was originally designed for precision chassis rifles, so some setups may need the right buffer tube length or a spacer to run properly. On certain rifles a minor clearance modification for the charging handle has come up, so it is worth confirming your specific build before installing.
You get an inch of length of pull adjustment on a thumbwheel, plus 1.5 inches of cheek riser height. The buttpad adds another 1.5 inches of vertical travel and cants 10 degrees left or right to match your shoulder pocket. Most of these are tool-less, and thumb screws or set screws lock everything down.
This listing is for the SCS stock kit itself in Flat Dark Earth. The SCS is designed to run on a custom MDT buffer tube with a standard castle nut, which MDT offers in various lengths to set your length of pull. If your chassis or rifle does not already use a compatible buffer tube, you will want to add the correct one separately.
It comes in right around 1.96 pounds. MDT skeletonized the aluminum body to keep the weight down while holding onto the rigidity you want for consistent, repeatable positioning behind the rifle.
