Description

MDT built the TIMBR Core for folks who never wanted to pick between a classic wood rifle and modern precision. Each stock is shaped from solid walnut, so the grain and figure are one of a kind, and tucked inside that smooth exterior is an aluminum micro-chassis with a V-block bedding system. That means your barreled action drops in with a precise, repeatable fit, no glass bedding and no trip to the gunsmith. This particular listing is the Core Kit for the right-hand Savage 110 short action, and it comes matched with the MDT CORE Bottom Metal so you are set up for AICS magazines from the start.

What the TIMBR Core Kit Brings to a Savage Build

The walnut soaks up recoil in a way synthetic stocks tend to miss, giving you that dead, planted feel that helps you stay on target and get back on the reticle for a quick follow-up. The forend is channeled to free-float barrels all the way up to the Proof Research Sendero contour, which is a lot more clearance than most traditional wood stocks offer. Up front you get dual QD sling studs so you can hang a bipod and still run a sling, with a matching rear stud for carry.

Ergonomics That Feel Modern in a Classic Package

MDT carried over the comfort cues from its chassis line. You get a 68 degree grip angle, a raised cheek weld, and length-of-pull spacers so you can dial the fit to your build and shooting position. The soft rubber buttpad rounds out the recoil management. The bare stock runs right around 3 pounds 3 ounces before the bottom metal, keeping the whole rig reasonable to carry in the field.

Built to Take a Beating

This is not a fair-weather piece of furniture. MDT ran the TIMBR Core through thousands of rounds of simulated fire, salt-bath humidity testing, extreme heat and deep-freeze cycles, sling stud tear-out checks and repeated drop testing. There is even a hidden internal reinforcement screw in the grip to keep it strong right where wood stocks tend to be weak. It is a stock you can trust in the whitetail woods one weekend and on the range the next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the TIMBR Core Kit come with the bottom metal, or is that sold separately?

The Kit version, part 116036WNT, includes the MDT CORE Bottom Metal, which is what lets you run AICS-pattern magazines. The standalone TIMBR Core stock is sold without bottom metal, so if you want the drop-in magazine setup out of the box, the Kit is the one to grab. You will still need to supply your own AICS magazines.

Do I need to bed the action or have a gunsmith fit the TIMBR Core?

No. The stock is built around an aluminum micro-chassis with a V-block bedding system, so your barreled action locks in with a precise, repeatable fit. You just torque it down to spec and shoot, no glass bedding or custom gunsmithing required.

What size barrel will the TIMBR Core clear?

The forend is channeled to free-float barrels up to the Proof Research Sendero contour, which is a heavier profile than most traditional wood stocks can handle. That covers everything from a lightweight sporter barrel up to a fairly beefy contour without the barrel touching the wood.

Is this stock a fit for the newest Savage 110 rifles?

It is cut for the current Savage 110 short action profile in a right-hand configuration. MDT has noted that some of the very latest Savage 110 models may not be compatible while they work on updates, so if you are running a brand-new rifle it is worth confirming your specific action profile before installing.
