The MDT LSS Gen3 Worker is the stripped-down, no-nonsense version of MDT's popular LSS Gen3 chassis line, built here specifically for the left-hand Ruger American short action. It takes your factory barreled action and drops it into a rigid aluminum core that improves consistency, adds AICS magazine feeding, and opens the door to a whole world of MDT accessories. This is the kit for folks who want a real upgrade without overthinking it or breaking the bank on features they won't use.
Installation is about as simple as it gets. You pull the barreled action out of the factory stock, set it into the chassis, and torque down the included action screws. No bedding, no gunsmithing, no trip to a shop. The action seats on MDT's aluminum V-block, which makes contact at the recoil lug and bedding surfaces to keep things repeatable shot after shot, and the forend clears the barrel so it floats free.
The Worker runs a short forend with polymer side panels that keeps the rifle slim and comfortable in the hand without adding bulk. You get M-LOK slots for a bipod, sling, or light, plus a built-in barricade stop at the front of the magwell for shooting off cover. It feeds from standard AICS pattern magazines and uses an ambidextrous mag release, which is a genuine step up from a factory blind or hinged box.
Even though this comes preconfigured as a kit, it's still an LSS Gen3 at heart, so you're never locked in. Down the road you can swap the buttstock, change the grip, or move up to a full-length ARCA forend without ever pulling your barreled action, which means you keep your zero. That makes the Worker a great starting point whether it stays a lightweight truck gun, a coyote rig, or grows into a full precision build.
Built from 6061 aluminum with a Cerakote finish, it holds up to real-world use out in the field. Toss it behind the seat, strap it to a pack, or hand it to a new shooter learning the ropes. It just works.
This particular kit is cut for the Ruger American short action in a left-hand configuration. Make sure your rifle is a short-action Ruger American and set up for a left-hand bolt before ordering, since the inlet is action and orientation specific.
No gunsmithing required. You remove the barreled action from your factory stock, drop it into the chassis, and torque down the included action screws. Most folks have it done in around ten minutes with basic tools.
It feeds from standard AICS pattern magazines, so if your Ruger American runs a factory box, the chassis converts it over to the widely available AICS system. The chassis also has an ambidextrous magazine release, which pairs nicely with the left-hand setup.
