Description

Most suppressed builds are an afterthought. Someone picks a rifle, threads a can on the end, and calls it a day. The Maxim Defense SDX RFLX takes the opposite approach. It was designed from day one to run suppressed, with the M-Kore reflex suppressor and host firearm engineered together as a single, tuned system. The result is a platform that's cleaner, quieter, and more balanced than anything you'd put together yourself.

The star of the show is Maxim's M-Kore over-the-barrel suppressor. Instead of stacking length out in front of the muzzle like a traditional can, it extends rearward over the 8.5" barrel, reducing the overall length added by suppression by more than 3 inches compared to a standard muzzle-mounted setup. This keeps the gun remarkably compact while giving the suppressor significantly more internal volume to work with. The payoff is a verified 129 dB sound level at the shooter's ear with subsonic .300 Blackout ammunition, placing it among the quietest compact .300 BLK platforms in its class. The M-Kore technology also combines the low backpressure characteristics of a monocore baffle design with the sound suppression efficiency of traditional multi-baffle geometry, so you're not trading one advantage for another.

The gas system is tuned specifically for this barrel and suppressor combination to manage bolt velocity and minimize blowback across both subsonic and supersonic loads. The two-piece M-LOK compatible SDX Ledge handguard covers the suppressor body cleanly, and a full-length 1913 Picatinny top rail gives you a solid optic mounting surface from end to end. Controls are premium throughout: an ambidextrous Radian Raptor slimline charging handle with a ported shaft for gas management, swappable ambi Radian selector levers, an ambidextrous magazine release, and an ALG Combat Trigger. The bolt carrier features an integral gas key, eliminating staking concerns entirely. The pistol variant comes equipped with a Gen:6 CQB pistol brace and ships with a 30-round magazine.

This is a purpose-built PDW-class suppressed platform for serious use. Whether you're running subsonic loads quietly or cycling supersonic ammunition, the SDX RFLX handles both reliably. If you want a compact, suppressed .300 BLK pistol that was designed to be exactly what it is rather than assembled from mismatched parts, this is the one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the M-Kore reflex suppressor on the SDX RFLX differ from a standard muzzle-mounted can?

The M-Kore suppressor wraps back over the barrel rather than stacking length forward past the muzzle, which does two things: it keeps the overall footprint much shorter (over 3 inches less added length compared to a traditional setup), and it increases the suppressor's internal volume significantly by using the space around the barrel. More internal volume means better pressure management and better sound reduction, which is how Maxim gets to a measured 129 dB at the shooter's ear with subsonic ammo.

Can the SDX RFLX run both subsonic and supersonic .300 Blackout ammunition?

Yes. The gas system is specifically tuned for this barrel and suppressor combination to cycle reliably with both subsonic and supersonic .300 Blackout loads. The 129 dB sound figure applies to subsonic ammunition, where suppression is most effective. Supersonic rounds will still be significantly quieter than an unsuppressed firearm, though the supersonic crack of the projectile itself is not something any suppressor eliminates.

What optic works best on the Maxim SDX RFLX pistol?

The SDX RFLX ships with a full-length 1913 Picatinny top rail, so it's compatible with virtually any optic. For a .300 Blackout pistol at typical engagement distances, a red dot or a compact holographic sight is a natural fit given the caliber and platform size. The full-length rail gives you flexibility on mounting position and leaves room for a backup iron sight or a laser unit forward.

Does the suppressor on the SDX RFLX need to be removed for cleaning?

The M-Kore suppressor can be removed, but it's really intended to stay on the gun under normal use. It takes a substantial amount of round count to foul the suppressor to a point where it would affect performance, so routine removal isn't necessary or recommended. Think of suppressor removal on this platform as an armorer-level task rather than something that's part of your regular cleaning routine.

What pistol brace does this model come with?

The MXM-49216 pistol variant is equipped with the Maxim Defense Gen:6 CQB Pistol Brace. This is a compact brace designed to keep the overall platform tight and maneuverable. The SBR versions of the RFLX use different stock configurations, but this specific SKU is the pistol build with the Gen:6 CQB brace.

Is the Maxim Defense SDX RFLX rated for sustained or full-auto fire?

The SDX RFLX suppressor is rated for full-auto fire, which speaks to the durability of the M-Kore design and the materials used throughout the system. That said, this specific model is a semi-automatic pistol, so full-auto isn't applicable to the host firearm itself. The rating reflects the suppressor's ability to handle sustained heat and pressure without failure.
