Description

Most suppressed short-barrel builds feel like an afterthought, a can bolted onto a gun that was never tuned for it. The Maxim Defense PDX-SD takes the opposite approach. This 300 Blackout pistol was engineered from the ground up around its DSX suppressor, so the gas system, buffer setup, and can all work together instead of fighting each other. The result is a platform that runs cleaner, stays quieter, and keeps gas out of your face, all in a package measuring just 23.75 inches from brace to muzzle.

What Makes the PDX-SD Different

The DSX suppressor built for the PDX uses Maxim's M-Kore technology in a shorter, larger-diameter body, roughly 2.25 inches across and 7.4 inches long. It is machined from serious materials like 6Al-4V titanium, 17-4 stainless steel, and 7075 aluminum, and it is fully user-serviceable. Integrated carbon cutters and simple disassembly with common tools mean you can keep it clean without shipping it off or wrestling with stuck baffles, a real advantage with 300 Blackout, where subsonic loads leave plenty of fouling behind. Just as important, the design cuts gas blowback and keeps the cyclic rate in check, which pays off in reliability and service life over thousands of rounds.

Built on the Proven PDX Platform

Underneath the can, this is the same PDX that earned Best of SHOT honors from RECOIL, born out of the SOCOM PDW program. The patented SCW system shrinks the rear of the gun down to about four inches using an integrated bolt carrier and interchangeable buffer weights, and the 5.5 inch barrel with 5/8×24 threading is right in the sweet spot for 300 Blackout, which was designed to burn its powder in short barrels. An M-LOK free-float handguard, ambidextrous controls, and a quality trigger make it feel like a much bigger rifle in the hands. Finished in Arid Dark Earth Cerakote, the PDX-SD is a compact, quiet, hard-hitting setup for truck, home, or range duty that handles like it was built by people who use them, because it was.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the suppressor on the PDX-SD removable and serviceable?

Yes. The DSX suppressor is designed specifically for the PDX platform and is fully user-serviceable. It disassembles with common tools, and integrated carbon cutters help keep fouling manageable, which matters when you are running dirty subsonic 300 Blackout loads.

Will the Maxim PDX-SD run both subsonic and supersonic 300 Blackout?

It will. The gas system is tuned to work with the suppressor as a complete system, so it cycles reliably across load types. Subsonic ammo is where this gun really shines for quiet shooting, while supersonics give you full rifle-caliber punch from the 5.5 inch barrel.

How is the PDX-SD different from the standard Maxim PDX?

The standard PDX ships with the HATEBRAKE muzzle booster, while the PDX-SD adds a purpose-built DSX suppressor tuned to the platform. Beyond the sound reduction, the SD version cuts gas blowback and keeps the cyclic rate down compared to slapping a generic can on a short barrel, which improves both shooter comfort and long-term reliability.

How compact is the PDX-SD with the suppressor installed?

Even with the can in place, the whole package measures 23.75 inches overall and weighs 7.6 pounds. The SCW brace system keeps the rear of the gun to about four inches, so it stows easily in a pack or vehicle while still giving you a stable shooting platform.
