The Mauser 1911 in .22 LR gives you the look, feel, and manual of arms of John Browning's legendary .45 ACP design, but chambered for the cheapest, softest-shooting cartridge in the box. It's built by German Sport Guns (GSG), the same outfit behind a whole lineup of well-regarded rimfire clones, and it ships under the Mauser name through Blue Line Solutions. If you've always wanted a 1911 but didn't want to deal with the recoil, noise, or ammo cost, this is the easy way in.
This particular model wears a flat dark earth tan finish on both the CNC-machined aluminum slide and frame, with a black steel barrel and double-diamond walnut grips that dress it up nicely. The 5-inch barrel is threaded, the rear sight is adjustable while the front is fixed, and you get a beavertail grip safety along with a true ambidextrous thumb safety, so lefties aren't left out. Trigger pull runs around 4.5 pounds out of a skeletonized trigger, and the whole package weighs in right around 2.15 pounds, close enough to a real 1911 that the heft feels familiar. Capacity is 10+1 with the included metal magazine.
Where this gun really shines is value and trigger time. Because it shares roughly 80 percent of its parts footprint with a standard 1911, most aftermarket sights, grips, and accessories drop right on, and it lives in standard 1911 holsters and mag pouches. A couple of real-world tips from folks who shoot these: feed it good high-velocity ammo like CCI Mini-Mags, keep the chamber clean with the included brush, and use a sling-shot rack rather than riding the slide with your thumb. Do that and it runs reliably. It's a fun, affordable understudy, not a target-grade match pistol, and at this price that's exactly the point.

Like most blowback rimfire pistols, it prefers high-velocity ammo, and CCI Mini-Mags are a longtime favorite for these. Standard or low-velocity loads can cause cycling issues since .22 LR doesn't generate much recoil energy to work the lightweight slide. Stick with quality HV rounds and you'll get the most reliable results.
Yes, that's one of its strongest use cases. The low recoil, low noise, and cheap ammo make it easy and fun for learning, and the familiar 1911 controls translate to centerfire 1911s down the road. One note: the beavertail grip safety can take a firm hand to fully depress, so shooters with very small hands should try it first.
Two things matter most: keep the chamber clean and use the included angled chamber brush every couple hundred rounds, and rack the slide with the sling-shot method rather than riding it with your thumb. Riding the slide can add drag and cause failures to go fully into battery. Do those two things and feed it good ammo, and it'll run well as a plinker and trainer.
