Faxon built the Big Gunner line as the heavier-hitting sibling to their well-loved 5.56 Gunner barrels, and this 18-inch 6.5 Creedmoor version brings that same balance of accuracy and handling to the AR-10 platform. It runs a 1:8 twist, a rifle-length gas system, and a .750" gas block journal that plays nice with most common gas blocks. At right around 2.46 pounds, it hits a sweet spot between the pencil-thin profiles that heat up fast and the bull barrels that wear you out on a long day.
The magic here is in the taper. Faxon keeps a medium contour behind the gas block for rigidity, then thins things out forward of the journal to shave weight while keeping the barrel stiff enough for higher rates of fire and suppressor use. That means you get a barrel that tracks flat and recovers quickly between shots but won't drag the nose of your rifle down. If you're chasing steel at distance or building a do-it-all 6.5 rig, this profile earns its keep.
This is machined from 416-R stainless steel with 5R button rifling, which tends to foul less and helps bullet stability compared to traditional land-and-groove cuts. The muzzle wears a recessed 11-degree target crown to protect the rifling and keep gas escaping evenly for consistent shot placement. Every barrel is magnetic particle inspected, so you know it left the shop without hidden flaws.
Inside and out, the barrel gets a salt bath nitride (QPQ) treatment for serious corrosion resistance and long service life. The DPMS LR-308 compatible extension comes Nickel Teflon coated for smooth, reliable feeding even as the round count climbs. Threads are cut at 5/8×24, the standard pitch for .30-caliber-class muzzle devices and suppressors, so mounting a brake or can is straightforward. Made in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio.
It uses a DPMS LR-308 compatible barrel extension, which is the most common AR-10 pattern on the market.
