Magtech loaded this .44 Special specifically for the cowboy action shooting crowd. Built to Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) specifications, these 240-grain lead flat nose rounds handle everything from competition matches to recreational target practice. The flat nose design gives you clean hole punching on paper and reliable knockdown on steel plates.
Magtech didn't cut corners here. The ammunition uses only high-quality components and is manufactured to the same standards as the rest of their line. These are new production, non-corrosive rounds in boxer-primed brass cases that you can reload when you're ready to handload. Muzzle velocity sits at around 760 fps with approximately 308 ft-lbs of energy, giving you a smooth shooting experience without excessive recoil. That moderate velocity is a real advantage when you're shooting multiple stages in a day.
The .44 Special has a long history with period-correct firearms, and Magtech engineered this load to function reliably in your single-action revolvers and lever-action rifles. The lead flat nose bullet feeds smoothly and chambers cleanly. The 240-grain weight is the classic standard weight for this cartridge, balancing penetration with manageable recoil.
With 50 rounds per box, you get a solid amount for a range trip or practice session. The consistent construction means you can count on predictable performance from the first round to the last. Whether you're preparing for a SASS match or just enjoying your classic firearms at the range, these rounds perform like ammunition should.
Yes, it's specifically designed to feed and chamber reliably in both single-action revolvers and lever-action rifles. The lead flat nose bullet design ensures positive feeding in rifles, and the moderate 760 fps velocity keeps pressure levels manageable for period-correct firearms.
Yes, these rounds come in reloadable boxer-primed brass cases that you can reload once you've fired them. This makes them economical for high-volume shooters and handloaders.
The flat nose bullet punches clean holes through paper targets for easy scoring, which is critical in competition. On steel plates, the flat nose delivers reliable knockdown. The design also helps ensure consistent feeding in both revolvers and rifles compared to round nose bullets.
Magtech loaded these to SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) specifications, meaning they were engineered specifically for cowboy action shooting rather than general use. The combination of the 240-grain weight, moderate velocity, and flat nose design creates a load optimized for accuracy and steel plate knockdown in competition.
