The SCAR is a great rifle, but the factory selector sits high and forms a pronounced tab that feels different from what most folks are used to coming off an AR. The Magpul SSG Selector Set was built to fix exactly that. Designed at the request of a deploying military unit that wanted more positive control over the safety, these dual-sided levers add extra surface area so your thumb catches the selector cleanly every time, whether you're running it strong side or weak side.
These are true ambidextrous selectors, so left-handed and right-handed users get the same natural ergonomics. Paired with the SCAR's 45-degree throw, a lot of owners find the safety becomes fast and intuitive to work, and that muscle memory carries right over from an AR platform. The levers are molded from Magpul's tough polymer, so they hold up to real range time without adding any noticeable weight to the rifle. They also run a touch thinner than the stock selectors, which may feel different at first but tends to grow on people quickly.
The SSG is a direct replacement for the OEM selectors and requires no permanent changes to your weapon. It's compatible with the select-fire MK16 and MK17 as well as the civilian SCAR 16S and 17S. Installation uses the existing set screw on the OEM selector axle, so it's a job most people can knock out at the bench in a few minutes. One tip from experienced owners: use a dab of thread locker on that set screw so it stays put through recoil and hard use.
Made in the USA, the SSG is a straightforward, no-fuss upgrade that makes an already excellent rifle a little easier to run. If you spend real time behind your SCAR, better selector control is one of those small changes you notice every single time you pick it up.
Yes. The SSG is designed for the full FN SCAR family, including the civilian SCAR 16S and 17S along with the select-fire MK16 and MK17. It drops right in as a direct replacement for the factory selectors.
Not at all. It's a drop-in swap that uses the existing set screw on the OEM selector axle, so most owners can do it at home in a few minutes with basic tools. A good tip is to add a little thread locker to the set screw so it stays tight through recoil.
No permanent modification is required. The SSG is a direct replacement that reuses your factory hardware, so you can always return the rifle to stock if you want to. Just keep in mind the set screw is not supplied, so hang onto your original.
The SSG levers have more surface area and a shape aimed at giving you faster, more positive control of the safety. They run a bit thinner than the factory selectors, and many owners find the improved feel makes the SCAR's 45-degree throw quicker and more natural to work from either side.
