Magpul built the MS4 Dual QD Gen 2 for folks who want one sling that does the job of two. Instead of committing to a single-point or two-point setup, you get both, and the swap between them takes about a second once you get the feel for it. That flexibility is the whole point here, and it works whether you're running a carbine on the range, in a class, or just want easy carry while you move.
The magic is in the hardware. Two heavy-duty push-button QD swivels anchor the sling to your gun, and a custom-cast steel D-ring lets you clip both ends together for one-point mode or split them out for a stable two-point hang. That D-ring is finished in Melonite, so it shrugs off wear and corrosion even after plenty of sweaty range days. Because it runs on standard QD sling cups, it drops right into the sockets you'll find on lower receivers, end plates, buttstocks, and low-profile forward mounts like the Magpul RSA-QD and various M-LOK QD points.
The Gen 2 upgrades bring a slimmer, low-profile quick-adjust slider that trims bulk while still letting you cinch or loosen the sling with one hand, even while it's on the gun in two-point mode. The custom 1.25-inch nylon webbing is built to resist chafing against your neck and shoulder, and Magpul stretched the webbing length on this version so it fits a wider range of body types and plays nicer over armor and heavy layers. Adjustment range runs from 48 to 60 inches, giving you room to dial in the fit.
The colored webbing carries a near-infrared treatment that helps cut your IR signature in low light, a nice touch for anyone running night gear.
