The MS1 QDM takes one of the most trusted two-point slings on the market and adds a serious hardware upgrade. Instead of the usual push-button swivels, Magpul installs their own QDM quick-disconnect mounts at both ends, giving you a lower profile, one-handed detach, and a freely rotating bale that keeps the webbing from rolling over on you. It is a small change that makes a real difference when you are cinching down or dropping the rifle to your side in a hurry.
The heart of this sling is the MS1 Slider, the same rapid-adjust system that made the original MS1 a favorite. Pull to loosen for freedom of movement, cinch it down for a stable shooting platform off-hand, and it stays put with no creep, no dangling tails, and nothing to snag on your gear. The QDM swivels are made from steel with a QPQ salt-bath nitride finish, so they shrug off wear and corrosion whether you are running drills in the dust or hunting in the rain.
The 1.25-inch proprietary nylon webbing uses a tubular weave that is strong and abrasion resistant while staying comfortable against your body and cutting down on chafing. Colored versions like this Coyote Tan also get a Near Infrared treatment to reduce IR signature. Magpul put the MS1 platform through tens of thousands of cycles in wet, dry, and sandy conditions, ran static-load testing for 72 hours without slippage, and subjected it to weighted six-foot drop tests. They also took it hunting, hiking, and swimming, then shot with it in rough conditions.
Out of the box this is a dedicated two-point setup that handles seamless shoulder transitions and quick length changes for whatever position you end up in. Need one-point capability down the road? It works with MS3 and MS4 adapters, sold separately, so the sling grows with your setup. Made in the USA, it is a dependable pick for AR-style rifles and similar platforms.
Not on its own. As it comes, the MS1 QDM is a dedicated two-point sling. You can add Magpul MS3 or MS4 adapters, sold separately, to run it as a one-point when you need that flexibility.
The Magpul QDM has a lower-profile head and dual side tabs that help prevent accidental release. It also uses a freely rotating bale that guides the webbing to stop rollover, plus a QPQ nitride finish on steel for solid corrosion resistance. One-handed operation is a nice bonus when you need to detach in a hurry.
For most setups, yes. The sling runs 48 to 60 inches with about five inches of adjustment on top of that, which handles bulky layers and armor for the majority of users. The 10-inch slider range lets you dial it in fast.
It is built with the modern AR-15 in mind but works on any platform with QD-compatible mounting points. Since the swivels are quick-disconnect, you can move the sling between rifles easily as long as they accept standard QD sockets.
