Description
The Magpul MS1 Padded Sling is a two-point rifle sling built for people who carry a heavy long gun for hours at a time. It runs on the same MS1 slider as the standard MS1, so you get one-handed length adjustment that lengthens or shortens the sling fast and stays put once you set it. What sets this version apart is the padded center: the 1-1/4 inch nylon webbing widens out to about 1.85 inches through the shoulder section, with closed cell foam sewn inside a ripstop coated tube. The result spreads the load across more of your shoulder so a 10-pound rifle stops digging in.
What the MS1 Padded Sling Feels Like on the Shoulder
One thing owners point out again and again is how broken-in this sling feels right out of the package. The tubular webbing isn't stiff like a lot of padded slings, and the padding is segmented into smaller sections rather than one long stiff pad, so it drapes and moves with you. That makes it a favorite for hunters trekking through the woods, folks running heavier 7.62 builds and AR-10s, and shotgun owners hanging it off a Benelli or an M1 Garand. For a range day with a standard AR it may be more sling than you need, but the second you start carrying real weight, the extra width earns its keep.
Setting Up and Adjusting the MS1 Padded Sling
The slider gives you roughly 10 inches of travel across the 48 to 60 inch nominal length range, and it's easy to grab and run even with gloves on. Keep the slider on your support-hand side where you can see and reach it. Because the wider padded section won't feed through the tri-glides, this sling sets up best on longer guns rather than short-barreled setups. Hardware is heavy-duty reinforced polymer, and the colored webbing gets a Near Infrared treatment to cut down its IR signature.
One-Point Conversion Options
Out of the box this is a dedicated two-point, but Magpul builds the MS1 to grow with you. Add the optional Paraclip, QDM, or QD Sling Swivel adapters (sold separately) and you can run it as a convertible two-to-one-point setup. Plenty of owners start with the padded MS1 and later swap in QD swivels to make it a quick-detach, multi-gun sling. Made in the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the MS1 Padded Sling a one-point or two-point sling?
Out of the box it's a dedicated two-point sling. You can add one-point functionality by picking up an optional adapter, available with a Paraclip, QDM, or QD Sling Swivel, which are sold separately. That flexibility is a big reason people choose the MS1 platform over a fixed sling.
Will the MS1 Padded Sling work with QD sling swivels?
Yes. The MS1 accepts optional QD Sling Swivel or QDM adapters so you can run it as a quick-detach setup. A lot of owners set up their rifles and shotguns with QD sockets so they can move one padded sling between multiple long guns.
Is this sling good for heavier rifles like an AR-10 or shotgun?
That's exactly what it's built for. The wide 1.85 inch padded center spreads out the weight of a heavier rifle or shotgun so it doesn't dig into your shoulder on long carries. Owners regularly run it on AR-10 and 7.62 builds, Benelli shotguns, and even an M1 Garand with great results.
How does the MS1 slider adjust?
The MS1 slider lets you lengthen or shorten the sling one-handed and it stays put once you set it, with no dangling tails to snag. It gives you about 10 inches of adjustment travel and is easy to grab even with gloves on. Keep the slider on your support-hand side so it's simple to reach and run.
