The standard pad on your Magpul stock does the job, but this Enhanced version gives you a little more to work with where it counts. It's a thicker, vented rubber pad that swaps right in place of the factory piece, bumping your length of pull by roughly 3/8" while keeping the same grippy ribbed texture you're used to. If your stock feels a touch short or you just want a softer landing on the shoulder, this is one of the easiest upgrades you can make.
The extra 0.70" of thickness does two things. First, it stretches your reach by about 3/8", which is a real help if you've got long arms or run thick outerwear and always felt cramped behind the gun. Second, the added rubber gives you a bit more cushion. On heavier recoiling builds like a .308 UBR GEN2 or a big-bore AK, folks tend to notice the difference on the shoulder during longer strings. On a mild 5.56 it's more about the added reach and grip than felt recoil, so set expectations accordingly. The rubber runs on the firm side, so this isn't a squishy magnum-style recoil pad, it's a durable, no-slip contact surface built to take abuse.
This is a direct replacement for full-size MOE SL-pattern stocks, including the MOE SL, MOE SL-S, UBR GEN2, MOE AK, Zhukov-S, and X-22 Backpacker. It carries over Magpul's proven CTR Enhanced pad materials with the updated MOE SL shape, including an angled serrated toe that catches cleanly when you shoulder the rifle and a slight curve up top for a positive seat. It also adds less than an ounce to your stock, so you won't feel it in the balance.
Installation is about as simple as it gets. The pad mounts with your existing hardware and slides right onto the stock, so most people have it swapped in under a minute with nothing but their hands. Made in the USA.
