The Magpul RVG (Rail Vertical Grip) is one of those parts that just makes sense the first time you wrap a hand around it. It mounts directly to any 1913 Picatinny rail and gives your support hand a natural, high hold on the bore centerline, which translates to better control and quicker, more comfortable handling. If you've ever run a bare handguard and dealt with that awkward wrist angle, this is the fix, and it does the job without any fuss or added bulk.
Magpul built the RVG from reinforced polymer, so it stays light while shrugging off hard use. Complete weight comes in right around 2.6 ounces, and the low-profile shape won't snag on gear or clothing. The aggressive TSP texturing gives you a positive purchase whether your hands are wet, sweaty, or gloved, and the contoured body feels good in the hand rather than the round, generic shape a lot of budget grips settle for.
The grip works two ways depending on how you shoot. Wrap it fully for a traditional vertical hold, or run it thumb-forward for the thumb-break technique taught by Magpul Dynamics. One detail worth calling out is the dual-screw clamp. A lot of vertical grips lock down with a single screw, but the RVG uses two Allen bolts to hold position, which keeps it from shifting under recoil or hard manipulation. You can slide it anywhere along the bottom rail to dial in your reach, then lock it down and forget about it.
Every RVG ships with all the mounting hardware plus a universal mounting rail, so it can also fit many factory polymer handguards, including Magpul MOE and ACR pieces that lack a full-length Picatinny section. The hollow grip body even gives you a small internal cavity to stash a spare battery or two. The RVG clamps directly to any standard 1913 Picatinny rail using two Allen screws. It also ships with a universal mounting rail, so it can be fitted to many factory polymer handguards, including Magpul MOE and ACR pieces that don't have a continuous Picatinny section. For M-LOK handguards you'll want Magpul's separate RVG M-LOK adapter rail.
The dual-screw clamp is one of the RVG's better features. Two bolts hold the grip more securely to the rail than a single screw, so it won't shift or rotate under recoil and hard handling. It takes a moment longer to install, but you get a rock-solid mount that stays put.
Yes. As long as the firearm has a bottom 1913 Picatinny rail on the front end, the RVG will mount up. Folks run it on AR-15s, AR-10s, bullpups like the KSG, and other long guns to get a positive support-hand anchor.
