You get M-LOK slots positioned at the 2, 6, and 10 o'clock spots, so mounting a light, a sling point, a vertical grip, or a short section of Picatinny rail is a straightforward job wherever you need it. Since the slots aren't cut around the full circumference, the profile stays trim and comfortable in the hand while still leaving room for the gear you actually run.
Underneath the reinforced, heat-resistant Magpul polymer sits an integral riveted aluminum heat shield, plus a front lower lip and side extensions that keep your support hand away from a hot gas block during longer strings of fire. There's also a relief cut at the top rear that gives overhanging optic mounts a little breathing room, which comes in handy on builds with a longer scope or red dot setup.
