The Magpul MOE-K2 is a drop-in grip that swaps out your standard A2 or mil-spec pistol grip for something with a much more vertical hold. That steeper 17-degree angle is the whole point here. When you're running a rifle with a short length of pull or a PDW-style setup, the K2 pulls your firing hand in closer to your body, which keeps your wrist in a more natural position and gives you cleaner control when things get tucked in tight.
What sets the K2 apart from the smaller MOE-K is size. This is a full-size grip, so if you've got medium or larger hands and you want plenty of surface to wrap around, this one fills the palm nicely without feeling bulky. The one-piece reinforced polymer construction is Magpul tough, and the whole thing tips the scale right around 2.9 ounces, so you're not adding any real weight to the build.
The backstrap is shaped to guide your trigger finger into a consistent position every time you grab the rifle, which pays off for follow-up shots and general repeatability. Wrapping the grip is Magpul's aggressive TSP texture, short for Trapezoidal Surface Projections. It bites into your hand for a positive hold in the rain, in gloves, or when your palms are sweaty, but it won't chew up your skin during a long day at the range.
The grip ships with a basic grip cap and all the mounting hardware you need, and it's hollow inside so you can drop in an optional Magpul Storage Core for a spare battery or small parts. It's built for AR15/M4 pattern rifles and will also run on 7.62 AR10/SR25 style guns. Depending on the lower, you might see a small gap between the beavertail and the receiver on those larger platforms, but that's purely cosmetic and doesn't affect how the grip performs. Like the rest of the Magpul lineup, the MOE-K2 is made in the USA.
The main difference is the surface. The standard MOE-K2 is all polymer with the aggressive TSP texture, while the K2+ adds a wrap-around rubber overmolding for extra traction and a softer feel in the hand. Both share the same 17-degree vertical grip angle and full-size profile, so it comes down to whether you want the pure polymer grip or the rubberized version.
Yes, it works on 7.62 NATO AR-10 and SR25 pattern rifles in addition to AR15/M4 builds. Depending on the make of your lower, you may see a small gap between the beavertail and the receiver on those larger platforms. That gap is purely cosmetic and has no effect on how the grip functions.
Not at all. It's a true drop-in replacement and comes with all the mounting hardware you need. Just remove your old grip and bolt the K2 on with a standard screwdriver or hex key, and you're good to go in a couple of minutes.
It ships with a basic grip cap, but the grip is hollow and accepts optional Magpul Storage Cores. Those let you stash a spare battery, small parts, or other lightweight gear right inside the grip. The Storage Cores are sold separately.
