The Magpul MOE Carbine Stock in OD Green is the stock a lot of folks reach for when they want to ditch the basic M4 buttstock that came on their AR-15 and get something with better ergonomics and a cleaner look. It drops right onto any Mil-Spec sized carbine receiver extension tube, so if you're running a buffer tube from Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, SIG, or most other mainstream makers, this thing slides on and you're set. Made in the USA, it weighs in around 8 ounces and measures about 6.9 inches, so it keeps your build light without giving up durability.
The streamlined A-frame profile is the star here. It keeps the stock from snagging on slings, gear, or the edge of a vehicle door when you're shouldering fast, and it tucks the release latch behind a shield so you won't accidentally collapse the stock mid-use. The sloping cheek weld gives you a comfortable, repeatable spot to rest your face, and the chrome-silicon lock spring keeps your length-of-pull adjustment locked down where you set it. LOP runs roughly 10.7 to 14 inches depending on your tube, which covers just about any body type or gear setup.
Magpul didn't skimp on attachment points. You get rear and bottom 1.25-inch sling loops plus a lanyard hole on the toe for paracord rigs, and it plays nice with Magpul ASAP, ASAP QD, and other receiver-mount sling attachments. This is the Mil-Spec version, so it fits standard Mil-Spec diameter carbine receiver extension tubes, which is what most AR-15s ship with from makers like Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, and SIG. If your rifle has a Commercial-Spec tube instead, you'll want the Commercial-Spec model (MAG401), since the two diameters are not interchangeable. An easy way to check is that Mil-Spec tubes measure about 1.146 inches at the back where the stock rides.
No, this is the stock body only. It's designed as a drop-in replacement that slides onto your existing Mil-Spec receiver extension, so you'll reuse the buffer tube, buffer, spring, and castle nut already on your lower. Installation is quick and doesn't require any special tools.
Yes. The side mounting slots are built to accept Magpul's optional CTR Cheek Risers, which is handy if you're running taller optics or want a better cheek weld with the stock fully extended. Those slots also work on some non-AR platforms if you're getting creative with a build.
The MOE offers a lot of the same snag-free, lightweight feel as the CTR but in a simpler, more budget-friendly package.
