Built from reinforced black polymer with an A-frame construction, this fixed stock keeps weight minimal while providing the durability you'd expect from Magpul.
The stock uses the same innovative wedge block design found on Magpul's folding Zhukov-S stock, which solves a real problem with AK production tolerances. Every AK receiver is slightly different, and the wedge system adjusts during installation to lock in tight and stay that way. The result is solid, reliable fit without the wrestling matches some aftermarket stocks require.
Inside the storage compartment sits space designed specifically for a standard AK cleaning kit, plus room for batteries or small gear you want to keep secure. The compartment seals tight so nothing rattles around when you're moving with the rifle. The shock-absorbing rubber butt pad handles recoil and provides a non-slip surface for consistent shouldering. There's also a rollover toe that makes transitions smoother and works better when wearing body armor.
The MOE AK accepts multiple sling configurations. There's an integral QD sling socket (though you'll need to purchase the sling mounts separately if you want traditional push-button QD swivels), plus a fixed 1.25-inch sling loop at the rear. The sling mounting options give you flexibility in how you set up your rifle without being locked into one solution.
The stock checks in at 12.5 ounces and maintains a length of pull around 12.8 inches, roughly comparable to a Warsaw Pact standard. The slim cheek profile won't snag on gear and keeps the rifle handling fast, while the comfortable cheek weld works well for iron sights and lower mounted optics. Magpul also sells optional snap-on cheek risers if you need more height for elevated optics or just want to customize the fit.
The MOE AK stock mounts to most stamped receiver AK-47, AKM, and AK-74 rifles with a fixed stock and single tang trunnion. It's not compatible with Yugoslavian (Yugo) pattern AKs, Norinco Type 56S/MAK-90 models, or traditional milled receiver rifles due to trunnion differences. Minor fitting may be required depending on receiver tolerances.
Installation is straightforward for most rifles once you understand the wedge block mechanism. You remove the existing stock screw and retaining pin, install the new stock, then tighten the wedge to lock it in place. The included instructions guide you through the process, and many users report success following along without specialized tools. Some rifles with tight tolerances may need slight fitting.
The stock has an integral QD sling socket and a 1.25-inch fixed sling loop. To use a push-button QD swivel with the socket, you'll need to purchase Magpul's sling mount kits separately. Magpul offers Type 1 and Type 2 versions to match your setup. Without the mount kit, the fixed sling loop will accommodate standard slings up to 1.25 inches wide.
The internal storage compartment is designed to fit a standard AK cleaning kit with room to spare for batteries, small tool bits, or other compact items you want to keep accessible. The compartment closes securely with minimal rattle, making it practical for keeping essential maintenance gear with your rifle without adding bulk.
