The Magpul MOE AK Stock is one of the easiest wins you can hand a tired old AK. Trade out that Warsaw-era wood or beat-up factory polymer and you get a modern stock with better feel, a cleaner cheek weld, and the kind of durability Magpul built its name on. It bolts up to most stamped-receiver AK-47, AKM, and AK-74 pattern rifles running a single tang trunnion, so it covers a big chunk of what folks are shooting.
What sets this one apart is the wedge block fitment pulled straight from the Zhukov-S design. Instead of the loose, rattly fit a lot of AK stocks are known for, that wedge cinches everything down tight against the receiver. Combine that with the reinforced polymer A-frame construction and you get a stock that stays put and keeps weight down to right around 12.5 ounces. The rubber butt-pad grabs your shoulder and soaks up a little bit of that AK thump, and the rolled-over toe makes shouldering smoother, especially if you're running a plate carrier.
There's a hollow storage compartment inside sized for the factory AK cleaning kit, which is a genuinely handy touch for a field gun. Sling setup is flexible too, with a fixed 1.25-inch loop and provisions for optional Type 1 and Type 2 QD mounts if you'd rather run a push-button swivel. The cheek weld sits slim and comfortable out of the box, and if you plan to mount an optic, Magpul makes snap-on cheek risers (sold separately) to bring your eye up to height.
AKs are famous for being all over the map on tolerances, so a little fitting is normal territory here. Most guys drop it right onto guns like a WASR-10 with no trouble, while thicker or oddball receivers might need a few minutes of minor fitting to seat perfectly. A dab of thread locker on the mounting hardware is smart insurance to keep everything tight over a long range day. Note that this stock is built for stamped receivers and won't work with milled guns, Yugo patterns, or the Norinco Type 56S/MAK-90. Made in the USA.

For a lot of builds it drops right on with no modification, and plenty of people report a 15-minute install. Because AK tolerances vary so much from factory to factory, some receivers may need a little minor fitting to seat the wedge block perfectly. It helps to work slowly and add a bit of thread locker on the mounting screws so everything stays tight over time.

The stock comes with a slim, comfortable cheek weld right out of the box for iron sights. If you add a red dot or scope and need your eye higher, Magpul offers snap-on cheek risers in a few heights that attach to this stock. Those risers are sold separately.
