The Magpul MOE AK Handguard transforms how your AK-47, AKM, or AK-74 handles and feels in your hands. If you've been running the thin, slippery plastic that comes from the factory, this upgrade makes an immediate difference. Built from reinforced polymer with a full stainless steel heat shield underneath, it actually keeps your support hand cool even after running multiple mags. That's a big deal with AKs since standard handguards get uncomfortably hot fast.
The front lip and extended side walls shield your hand from barrel heat while giving you more surface to hold onto. The grip portion is noticeably thicker than factory handguards, which some prefer right away and others adjust to after a few range sessions. M-LOK slots are cut at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, letting you mount direct-attach accessories or add Picatinny rail sections anywhere you need them. If you want a light, foregrip, or sling attachment point, you've got plenty of options.
Installation couldn't be simpler. This handguard uses the existing front handguard retaining cap without a sling loop, so there's no need to remove any hardware. Magpul includes a matching polymer gas tube cover that maintains the traditional AK look. The whole thing drops into place and sits snug. Minor fitting may be needed depending on your rifle's tolerances, which is normal for AK-platform guns, but most installations go smoothly. The MOE AK is designed for standard AK-47, AKM, and AK-74 pattern rifles without a front sling loop on the handguard retainer. If your rifle has a retainer cap with a sling loop, the loop can be removed and the handguard will fit. It's not compatible with Yugo pattern rifles. You simply swap out the old handguard for the MOE and secure it with the existing cap. Magpul includes a replacement gas tube cover. Most installations require nothing more than firm hand pressure, though you might need a soft hammer tap depending on your rifle's tolerances.
