The factory Mossberg stock does its job, but it leaves a lot of fit and ergonomics on the table. The Magpul SGA Stock in Stealth Gray fixes that. It's an ambidextrous, user-configurable buttstock built for the 500, 590, and 590A1 12-gauge pump guns, and it turns a proven workhorse into something that fits you specifically. Made in the USA from the same tough reinforced polymer Magpul uses across its rifle line, it holds up to hard use without feeling heavy or bulky.
The big draw is adjustability. The included spacer system lets you dial length of pull in half-inch steps from roughly 12.5 to 14.5 inches, so you can set it up for body armor, a heavy coat, or just your build. The angled pistol grip has textured side panels for a solid hold in wet or gloved conditions, and the soft rubber recoil pad has a beveled edge that helps the gun shoulder fast while taking the sting out of heavier loads.
It ships with a pre-fitted zero-rise comb, which works great for bead and standard sights. If you're running a red dot or ghost ring setup, you'll want to grab a set of the optional cheek risers (0.25", 0.50", and 0.75" available separately) to raise your cheek weld and line your eye up with the optic. Owners running dot sights on their Mossbergs consistently point to the riser kit as the piece that ties the whole setup together.
This is a true drop-in job. Pull the factory stock bolt, slide the SGA on, and torque it back down using the included hardware. No fitting, no gunsmith. For carry, the stock has integral 1.25" sling loops on both sides plus QD-compatible positions, so single-point, two-point, or QD slings all work. One thing worth knowing: you loosen the stock bolt to drop the trigger group for cleaning, so keep the hex wrench handy. The Stealth Gray finish runs a little darker than some product photos suggest and pairs nicely with a blued receiver.
It's designed for the 12-gauge Mossberg 500, 590, and 590A1 pump shotguns. It is not made for the Shockwave, 590M without a stock interface, or other variants. If your 500 has a pinned or fixed foregrip, you may need an action slide tube to complete the setup, so check your model first.
Not for standard bead or iron sights. The stock ships with a zero-rise comb that works well as-is. If you're mounting a red dot, ghost ring sights, or any raised optic, the optional cheek risers (sold separately) raise your cheek weld so your eye lines up correctly with the sighting system.
It's a genuine drop-in swap that most people finish in a few minutes. You remove the factory stock bolt, slide the SGA on, and torque the bolt back down with the included hex wrench. No gunsmithing or fitting is required, and the bolt often comes with thread-locking compound already applied.
Yes. The soft rubber butt-pad is built to absorb heavy impacts and takes noticeable bite out of full-power buckshot and slug loads. The beveled edge also helps the gun shoulder quickly, and the textured pistol grip gives you better control shot to shot.
