Magpul took the guts of the original Pro 700L chassis, borrowed the best bits from the PRS Lite stock, and combined them into one streamlined package for long action 700-pattern rifles. The result is the Pro 700L Lite LA, a chassis that keeps the features precision folks care about while trimming a full pound off the older Pro 700L. It tips the scale at around 4.5 pounds, which is a real difference when you're carrying a heavy-barreled bolt gun into the field or onto a barricade all day.
At the heart of it is a fully machined Type III hard-anodized aluminum forend and V-bedding block that cradles the receiver and leaves a generous free-float channel for the barrel. That aluminum skeleton is wrapped in Magpul polymer, which adds grip, cuts down on noise and vibration, and softens the feel in cold weather without giving up rigidity. It accepts all factory Remington barrels plus aftermarket barrels up to an MTU profile, so most builds drop right in with a couple of action screws.
This is where the Lite earns its keep. You get roughly 0.8 inches of comb height adjustment and a length of pull that runs from 13.0 to 14.4 inches using spacers. The low-profile rubber butt-pad adjusts for both height and cant so it plants solidly into your shoulder. The vertical grip slides fore and aft to tune trigger reach for your hand, and the oversized trigger guard clears gloved fingers and aftermarket triggers with room to spare.
Southpaws and righties are covered. Swapping the bolt retainer plate makes the chassis fully ambidextrous, and the AICS-pattern magazine well runs a bilateral mag release. That well is optimized for Magpul's long action PMAGs but happily feeds standard AICS-pattern long action magazines too. A built-in barricade stop on the front of the mag well keeps the rifle from resting on the magazine when you're shooting off support.
Up front there are 19 M-LOK slots plus multiple sling options, including a footman's loop and a reversible QD cup, so you can hang a bipod, bag rider, or sling wherever your setup calls for it. Made in the USA.
It's built for Remington 700-pattern long action barreled actions, including the many clone actions that share the 700 footprint. It accepts all factory Remington barrels along with aftermarket barrels up to an MTU contour. Both right- and left-hand actions work by swapping the bolt retainer plate to the correct side.
Magpul packages can vary by retailer, so treat the magazine as an add-on rather than a guaranteed inclusion. The chassis uses AICS-pattern long action magazines and is optimized for Magpul's long action PMAGs. If you need a magazine to run the rifle, plan on picking one up alongside the stock.
The Lite blends the Pro 700L chassis with features from the PRS Lite stock to create a simpler rear end and shave weight. It comes in at roughly 4.5 pounds, about a full pound lighter than the original. You keep the adjustable comb, LOP, grip, ambi controls, and M-LOK real estate while trimming bulk and cost.
Quite a bit. You can set comb height, length of pull with spacers, butt-pad height and cant, and slide the vertical grip forward or back to tune trigger reach. Those adjustments let you dial the fit to your body and shooting position rather than settling for a factory compromise.
