That's exactly where the Magpul Hunter American comes in. It's a true drop-in replacement for right-hand short-action Ruger American rifles, and swapping it over takes about ten minutes with a torque wrench and the correct bit. No gunsmithing, no custom bedding, no headaches. The reinforced polymer build with a Type III hard-anodized cast aluminum bedding block and high-strength steel recoil lugs gives the action something rigid and consistent to sit on, and plenty of owners report tighter groups and less flex when torquing down a bipod once they make the switch.

Dialing In the Magpul Hunter American to Fit You

Comfort behind the rifle is where this stock earns its keep. Length of pull adjusts from 13.0 to 15.0 inches using the included 0.5 inch spacers, so you can set it up for a heavy hunting coat or trim it down for a tight, snappy mount. It ships with a 0.25 inch cheek riser pre-fitted, and optional 0.00, 0.50, and 0.75 inch risers are available separately to nail your cheek weld and get your eye lined up perfectly behind any scope or thermal. There's an anti-slip rubber butt-pad back there too, which keeps things planted on your shoulder.

Feeding and Mounting on the Hunter American Stock

The barrel channel free-floats contours up to 0.92 inch, roughly a Medium Palma profile, so most factory and aftermarket barrels clear with room to spare. Magpul includes their Bolt Action Magazine Well and a PMAG 5 7.62 AC, which converts the rifle to run detachable AICS-pattern magazines geared toward .308 Winchester and similarly sized cartridges. Rifles chambered in smaller or larger cases may need a different AICS-pattern magazine to feed cleanly, so it's worth matching the mag to your caliber before your first range trip.

Seven to eight M-LOK slots along the forend open the door to bipods, slings, and whatever else your setup calls for.
