Description

The Magpul Hunter 700 takes one of the most trusted bolt guns ever built and gives it a serious ergonomic and modularity upgrade without sending anything off to a gunsmith. It's a true drop-in fit for standard Remington 700 short action receivers with factory hinged floorplates, so most folks can swap their old stock and be back at the range the same afternoon. The reinforced polymer shell wraps around a Type III hard anodized A380 cast aluminum V-bedding block, which is where the real accuracy story lives. That block gives you a consistent, repeatable action fit and free-floats your barrel, and it handles all factory Remington barrels plus aftermarket profiles up to a Medium Palma contour.

Getting a Custom Fit With the Hunter 700

Where the factory stock gives you one size and calls it a day, this one adjusts to you. Length of pull runs from 13 to 15 inches using the included 0.50-inch spacers, and the comb height is adjustable so you can line up cleanly behind your optic. The stock ships with a 0.25-inch cheek riser pre-fitted, and Magpul offers taller and shorter risers separately if your scope rings sit high or low. The near-vertical 60-degree grip angle pulls the rifle into your shoulder better than a traditional sporter grip, which pays off when you're steadying up prone or off a bipod.

Building Out the Magpul Hunter 700

M-LOK slots run along both sides and the bottom of the forend, so bipods, sling mounts, and other accessories bolt right on where you need them. There's a rear push-button QD pocket and dimpled drill points for standard swivel studs when you're ready to add a sling. Down the road, you can drop in the Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well and run detachable AICS-spec magazines without any custom inletting. It accepts factory and most aftermarket triggers, weighs in around 3 pounds, and it's made right here in the USA. Fits right-hand receivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Magpul Hunter 700 fit my Remington 700 without gunsmithing?

Yes, it's designed as a true drop-in stock for standard Remington 700 pattern short action receivers with factory hinged floorplates. Most people can swap it over at home with basic tools and the included instructions. Keep in mind it fits right-hand receivers only, and ADL models will need current factory bottom metal or the Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well.

Does the Hunter 700 stock come with a cheek riser for adjusting comb height?

It ships with a 0.25-inch cheek riser already fitted, which works well for a lot of common scope setups. If you're running higher rings or a large objective, Magpul sells 0.00-inch, 0.50-inch, and 0.75-inch risers separately so you can dial in your cheek weld. Getting your eye lined up straight behind the optic makes a real difference in consistency.

Can I run detachable magazines with the Magpul Hunter 700?

Out of the box it works with the standard Remington hinged floorplate and internal magazine. When you're ready to switch to detachable AICS-spec box magazines, you add the Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well, which drops in without any custom inletting. From there it accepts common short action AICS-pattern mags in 5.56 or 7.62 sizing.

Will the Hunter 700 free-float my barrel and improve accuracy?

The aluminum V-bedding block gives your action a solid, repeatable fit and free-floats the barrel, which is a big step up from a flimsy factory stock. It clears all factory Remington barrels including VTR contours, plus aftermarket profiles up to a Medium Palma. Shooters regularly report tighter, more consistent groups after the swap thanks to the rigid bedding and stiffer forend.
