The Magpul Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad is one of those small upgrades that makes a bigger difference than you'd expect. At 0.70 inches thick, it swaps out the thin factory pad on your carbine stock and gives you a wider, grippier surface to plant into your shoulder. That vented rubber construction soaks up a bit more recoil while the textured face keeps the stock from sliding around when you're running drills or transitioning between positions.
The extra thickness does two jobs at once. It adds roughly three-eighths of an inch of length of pull, which is a real help for larger builds or anyone shooting in a heavy jacket or plate carrier. It also spreads the recoil impulse across a broader, cushioned pad instead of that hard mil-spec plate. Folks who run it on everything from 5.56 up through 7.62 carbines tend to notice the difference right away, and it's a common pick for shooters who want their setup a little more comfortable during long range sessions.
This pad is built for Mil-Spec CTR and MOE Carbine stocks, plus the original UBR, all STR, ACS-L, and ACS stocks. It mounts up with the existing hardware, so there's no permanent modification and no gunsmithing involved. It can also go on Commercial-Spec MOE and CTR stocks, though the extended, slanted back on most commercial receiver extensions may keep you from fully collapsing the stock. Worth noting it is not made to fit the MOE Fixed Carbine Stock.
Installation is about as easy as it gets. Back out the two screws holding your current pad, set the Enhanced pad in place, and snug it down. Weighing right around two ounces, it barely changes the balance of your rifle while giving you a noticeably better cheek-to-shoulder connection. Like the rest of the Magpul lineup, it's made in the USA and built to hold up to real use.
