Magpul took the familiar collapsible carbine stock and tightened it up in all the right ways. The DT-PR is the Precision Rifle version of the Dual-Tension series, and the whole point of that DT cartridge is to kill the play most folks live with between the buffer tube and stock. The result is a snug, consistent lockup across the full length of pull, so the stock feels planted instead of rattly no matter where you set it. It runs on a standard mil-spec receiver extension, so dropping it onto your AR-15 build is straightforward.
A loose stock robs you of consistency, and that's the gap this one fills. The patent-pending DT adjustment system removes the slop that shows up in traditional carbine stocks, giving you a tighter fit that holds up shot to shot. A single ambidextrous lever handles adjustments and locks in without needing a secondary lock, so you can change your length of pull fast and trust it to stay put.
The extended bottom edge acts as a bag rider, giving you a wide, stable contact point when you're shooting prone off a squeeze bag. Up front there's a support-hand shelf that adds control when you're loaded up on a rest. The contoured, non-slip rubber butt-pad seats cleanly into the shoulder with minimal contact against your collarbone, which pays off during long strings and when you're switching between heads-up and heads-down positions behind glass. The stock shape also avoids grabbing at facial hair when you get a good cheek weld.
