Some AR parts you upgrade because they broke. The CTR is one you upgrade because you're tired of that rattly, wobbly M4 stock that came on the gun. This is the stock that set the bar years ago and it still holds up. It drops right onto any mil-spec diameter buffer tube, so if you've got a standard AR-15 or M16 carbine, it's a straight swap with basic tools.
The A-frame shape is the first thing you notice. It's slim and rounded so it doesn't catch on gear, slings, or door frames, and it tucks the release latch up under the frame so you're not bumping the length adjustment by accident. Six positions of length of pull give you room from a tight 10.7 inches collapsed out to roughly 13.95 inches extended, which covers everything from a plate carrier to a t-shirt setup.

The sloping cheek weld keeps a low, comfortable profile and lines you up naturally behind the optic, and the side slots accept optional cheek risers if you're running a taller scope. The 0.30-inch rubber butt-pad rounds it out, giving you a grippy shoulder purchase that stays put even over armor or gear.

This is the Mil-Spec version, so it fits standard mil-spec diameter carbine receiver extension tubes from makers like Colt, Armalite, S&W, and LMT. If your rifle has a commercial-spec tube, which is slightly larger in diameter, you'll want the commercial version instead. When in doubt, measure your tube or check what came with your lower.
No, the CTR is just the stock body. It's a drop-in replacement that slides onto a buffer tube you already have on your rifle. If you're building from a stripped lower, you'll need a mil-spec receiver extension, buffer, and spring separately.
