Every Rolling Thunder comes out of Magnum Research's shop in the United States, machined from stainless steel and designed as a magnum from the ground up rather than a beefed-up standard frame. The barrel is cut rifled, an old-school process that produces excellent accuracy with both cast lead and jacketed bullets, which matters in a caliber where many favorite loads wear hard cast flat nose bullets. The silver brushed finish shrugs off weather, and the black grips give it a clean, classic two-tone look.
A snub barrel on a cartridge this size sounds like pure fun, and it is, but there is a practical side too. Guides and backcountry hunters have gravitated toward short barreled big bores because a compact revolver is the gun you always have on you when things get western.
