Magnum Research took a rifle cartridge and built a revolver worthy of it. The BFR, short for Big Frame Revolver, is machined entirely from stainless steel, and each one is assembled and fitted by hand in the USA. This version chambers six rounds of .350 Legend in its extended long cylinder, giving handgun hunters a straight-wall option that hits harder than a .44 Magnum out of the 7.5 inch barrel. Even with the velocity loss you'd expect going from a rifle to a revolver, this thing still puts well over 1,200 foot pounds of energy on target, which is serious medicine for whitetail and hogs.
The barrel is hand lapped with a recessed crown, and barrel-to-cylinder alignment is held to extremely tight tolerances, which is why these revolvers have a reputation for accuracy that surprises people the first time they shoot one. The cylinder is free-wheeling, so it spins either direction for easy loading and unloading, and a transfer bar safety means you can carry it with all six chambers loaded. The single action trigger breaks clean and light, exactly what you want when you're steadying up on a shot at distance. A soft rubber grip soaks up recoil, and at just under five pounds, the BFR has enough heft to keep the .350 Legend pleasant to run.
Out of the box you get a fixed front blade paired with a fully adjustable rear sight, and the frame comes drilled and tapped with a Weaver-style scope mount included. Toss a pistol scope or red dot on top and this becomes a legitimate 100 yard plus hunting rig.
The .350 Legend has taken off with hunters in straight-wall country, and ammo is easy to find and affordable compared to most big-bore revolver cartridges. If you already run a Legend rifle, pairing it with this wheelgun means one ammo supply for both. The brushed stainless finish shrugs off weather and wear, so it's a revolver you can carry in the field for years without babying it.

You'll lose some velocity compared to a rifle, typically a few hundred feet per second depending on the load. Even so, testing has shown the BFR still delivers over 1,200 foot pounds of muzzle energy, which outpaces a .44 Magnum. That's plenty for deer and hogs at reasonable handgun hunting distances.
It is. Unlike old-school single actions, the BFR uses a modern transfer bar safety, so the gun can't fire unless the trigger is pulled. That means you can load all six chambers with confidence in the field.
The BFR's long cylinder has counterbored chambers that headspace the rimless .350 Legend on the case mouth area of each chamber. No moon clips are needed. The cylinder is also free-wheeling, so it rotates both directions for easy loading and ejecting.
