When installed together with the correct backstrap, the sleeve fills the gap between your hand and the magazine's base pad, eliminating the small-gun feel and giving you the purchase and control of a full-size pistol. Note that removing the short magwell from the pistol is required for proper fitment with this extended magazine.

For full-size pistols, Springfield makes dedicated full-size magazine options.
For proper fitment and function, you need to pair sleeve number one with backstrap number one. Springfield makes versions of this extended magazine with sleeves number two and three for shooters using different backstrap sizes. Mixing mismatched sleeves and backstraps can create gaps and affect how the magazine sits in your gun.
The magwell is a removable plastic funnel that sits at the bottom of the magazine well on some XD-M Elite models. It helps guide magazines in faster during reloads. For this extended magazine to fit properly with the sleeve, you need to remove it from the pistol. This typically requires removing a roll pin and takes just a few minutes with basic tools.
