The result is the ETM Compact, a magazine that addresses what most 9mm compact platforms struggle with.
The front ramp design prevents nose-down feeding failures that commonly occur with shorter rounds and hollow points, something standard compact magazines don't handle well. Inside, the no-tilt nylon follower keeps rounds properly aligned regardless of your ammo choice. The aircraft-grade stainless steel tube is engineered with reinforced radius bends and optimized thickness to eliminate the feed lip cracking, tube spreading, and general fatigue you might see in other magazines. Even the witness holes are positioned toward the rear of the tube to maintain structural integrity rather than cutting through critical areas.
Every component uses either high-grade stainless steel or tough nylon with a multi-step tumbling and finishing process that delivers exceptionally smooth operation. The flush-fitting steel base pad gives you a sure grip when pulling from a magazine pouch, particularly useful in wet conditions or during speed reloads. The follower design minimizes creep when the magazine is empty, and the spring is heat-treated for durability without getting over-compressed like standard springs. Removable base pads let you swap options if needed.
These magazines are suitable for competition, duty use, and everyday carry. They lock and seat with the slide forward, making them easy to load and seat even when fully topped off. Numbered witness windows help you track round count at a glance. The 8-round capacity works well in compact 1911 frames without excessive bulk while delivering reliable feeding shot after shot.
Most Kimber compacts will work fine, but some earlier Kimber models have barrel feed ramps that aren't finished and can interfere with the ETM's front ramp. A gunsmith can easily modify the barrel to clear the magazine. If you're unsure, contact Wilson Combat directly before purchasing.
The tube is precision-engineered with reinforced radius bends and optimized stainless steel thickness to resist cracking at stress points. The witness holes are positioned toward the rear rather than cutting through high-stress areas, and the overall geometry was refined after 10,000+ rounds of testing.
Yes, that's one of the ETM's design features. The geometry puts less tension on the spring than standard magazines, making it easy to seat a fully loaded magazine with the slide forward.
