This is the full-size Security-9 magazine and Ruger does not recommend it for the Security-9 Compact. It may physically insert, but it will extend below the grip frame on the Compact model and is not an ideal fit. If you have the Compact, look for the dedicated Security-9 Compact magazine instead.

Nope, that's completely normal with a new magazine. Factory springs are intentionally firm when the magazine is new, and it typically loosens up after a few loading and unloading cycles. A magazine loading tool makes the process much easier if you find it difficult at first.
No. Even though the Security-9 and the SR9 are both Ruger 9mm pistols, their magazines are not interchangeable. The Security-9 magazine is specific to the Security-9 platform and should not be used in SR9 or SR9c pistols.
