Description
When it comes to spare magazines, there's a strong case for sticking with the factory part, and this one is exactly that. The Ruger Security-9 10-round magazine (MPN 90638) is a genuine OEM piece, built by Ruger to the same specs and tolerances as the magazine that came with your pistol. No fitting issues, no break-in feeding problems, no wondering if it'll work. It just drops in and runs.
The body is constructed from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, which holds up well against corrosion, holster wear, and general range abuse. Inside, you've got a high-tensile steel spring, a gray polymer follower, and an impact-resistant polymer baseplate. Wide-cut witness holes along the side let you do a fast round count without removing the magazine from the pistol.
One thing worth knowing: this is the full-size Security-9 magazine, not the Compact version. It also works in the Ruger PC Carbine and PC Charger when those platforms are set up with the SR9/S9 magazine well insert installed, which makes it a practical pick if you run both. It is not compatible with the SR9 or SR9c pistols, so if you're not sure which Ruger platform you have, double-check before ordering.
This mag is a solid choice whether you're building up a rotation for range days, keeping a spare in your bag, or replacing a magazine that's seen better days. Factory magazines are manufactured in the USA by Sturm, Ruger & Co.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this magazine fit the Ruger Security-9 Compact?
This is the full-size Security-9 magazine and Ruger does not recommend it for the Security-9 Compact. It may physically insert, but it will extend below the grip frame on the Compact model and is not an ideal fit. If you have the Compact, look for the dedicated Security-9 Compact magazine instead.
Can I use this magazine in my Ruger PC Carbine?
Yes, this magazine is compatible with the Ruger PC Carbine and PC Charger, but only when those firearms have the SR9/S9 magazine well insert installed. With that insert in place, it drops right in and functions normally. Without the insert, it won't be the correct fit.
Is this a genuine Ruger magazine or an aftermarket part?
This is a genuine Ruger factory magazine, made in the USA by Sturm, Ruger & Co. under part number 90638. It's manufactured to the same specifications and materials as the magazine your pistol shipped with, so fit and reliability are exactly what you'd expect from an OEM part.
The spring feels really stiff when I try to load all 10 rounds. Is something wrong?
Nope, that's completely normal with a new magazine. Factory springs are intentionally firm when the magazine is new, and it typically loosens up after a few loading and unloading cycles. A magazine loading tool makes the process much easier if you find it difficult at first.
Will this magazine work with SR9 or SR9c pistols?
No. Even though the Security-9 and the SR9 are both Ruger 9mm pistols, their magazines are not interchangeable. The Security-9 magazine is specific to the Security-9 platform and should not be used in SR9 or SR9c pistols.
