Mission First Tactical engineered the EXD with a completely different material approach, using next-generation long glass fiber polymer that absorbs punishment far better than traditional nylon magazines. Drop tests, concrete, rocky ground—this polymer flexes when it gets bent and actually returns to shape instead of cracking or warping.
While the tough exterior gets the attention, the guts of the EXD deliver where it counts. You're looking at a four-way anti-tilt follower paired with a USGI-spec stainless steel spring that'll handle thousands of rounds without degrading. The follower keeps rounds seated properly even when the mag gets jostled, so feeding stays smooth from the first round to the last. The oversized bolt catch improves reliability when the rifle locks back on empty, which means less failed bolt-hold-open situations downrange.
Mission First Tactical clearly thought about the practical side of magazine use. The ribbed front and rear gripping surfaces give you texture whether you're running gloves, sweaty hands, or need to strip mags from a chest rig fast. The flared floor plate makes removal easier and sits naturally in the magwell. The EXD's next-generation long glass fiber polymer is about 3 times more impact-resistant than traditional nylon-based magazines and 50 percent stronger overall. The material flexes under stress and returns to its original shape instead of cracking or permanently deforming, which makes it particularly reliable after drops or rough handling.
The EXD is designed specifically for .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO cartridges. While the magazine body can physically fit .300 Blackout rounds in some AR platforms, mixing or cross-loading different calibers is not recommended and can cause serious reliability issues or safety hazards.
The EXD features tool-less disassembly with double floor plate safety release tabs, so you can take the baseplate off without any tools. This makes it simple to clean out dirt, debris, or inspect internal components. The follower and spring are easy to access and clean when needed.
While the design looks sharp, it primarily helps with quick visual identification when you're grabbing magazines from a stack or storage.
