The Power Mag is designed for full-size Government Model 1911s, but full-size magazines will also function in Commander-length 1911s since they share the same frame dimensions. The magazine will extend slightly below the grip, which is completely normal. It's always a good idea to test any new mag in your specific gun before relying on it.

The concern is that if the slide is locked back on an empty magazine and the slide stop is forced down without first removing the mag, the all-steel follower can contact an aluminum feed ramp. For alloy-framed guns, CMC's Railed Power Mag (RPM) line uses a patented follower that is rated alloy-frame safe.
