Instead of spinning freely like the factory pin, this one keys against your takedown pin so it can't rotate inside the receiver. That single change does two things at once: it keeps the sear pin hole from gradually enlarging, and it keeps the pin itself from creeping or walking out during extended use. It's a simple mechanical fix for a problem that shows up on a lot of well-used lowers.
This is a drop-in part, so there's no machining or gunsmithing required to get it in place. That said, KNS parts are known for running on the tighter side of tolerance, so don't be surprised if you need to seat it firmly with a little persuasion, especially on receivers with tighter takedown pin channels.
