Anybody who reloads their own ammo or spends time at the bench knows that measurements have to be dead-on. The Lyman Electronic Stainless Steel Caliper gives you a direct digital readout accurate to .001" (0.1mm), which is exactly the kind of precision you want when you're checking case length, cartridge overall length, neck diameter, or headspace. The display is easy to read at a glance, and a quick button press switches you from inches to millimeters without any math in your head.
The stainless steel build gives this thing a solid feel in the hand. It carries a little weight, which shooters tend to appreciate since it doesn't feel flimsy or plasticky like some budget calipers do. There's a hold setting that freezes your reading in place, handy when you're measuring in an awkward spot or want to jot down a number before it changes. An on/off switch helps stretch out battery life between sessions.
While it earns its keep at the reloading bench, this caliper pulls double duty around the shop for general gunsmithing and any project where a thousandth of an inch matters. It measures lengths across the full 0 to 6 inch range, covering inside and outside dimensions plus depth. Sorting brass, spot-checking loaded rounds, or measuring small parts, it handles the everyday stuff without complaint.
It runs on an SR44 battery and ships in a molded plastic storage case that keeps the tool protected and the jaws safe from dings when it's tossed in a range bag or drawer. For the price of admission, it's a straightforward, no-nonsense measuring tool from a name that's been in the reloading game a long time. Toss one in your kit and you've got reliable numbers whenever you need them.
It's rated accurate to .001" (0.1mm), which is right in line with what you need for reloading and precision bench work. That level of resolution lets you confidently check case length, overall cartridge length, and small part dimensions. For most reloaders and gunsmiths, that's plenty of accuracy.
Yes. A single button press flips the readout between inches and millimeters, so you don't have to do any conversion math. That comes in handy when you're working from load data or specs listed in metric.
It runs on an SR44 battery, a common button cell you can pick up at most hardware or big box stores. The caliper has an on/off switch to help conserve power, so the battery lasts a good while with normal use. Keeping a spare on hand isn't a bad idea for long bench sessions.
It does. Each one ships in a molded plastic storage case that keeps the tool and its jaws protected between uses. That makes it easy to store in a drawer or toss in a range bag without worrying about knocking it out of alignment.
