The name says it all: this is a fuller, wider grip that fills the inside of your palm instead of leaving gaps. That extra contact area gives you a more stable connection to the gun and cuts down on hand fatigue when you're logging real time behind the trigger.
The magic here is the trio of ergonomic touches working together. There's a left-side thumb rest that gives your thumb a natural home, a pronounced palm shelf that helps lock your hand into the same spot every time, and a raised surface on the trigger-finger side that nudges your finger into a proper curved position for cleaner trigger control. Add the non-slip texturing and you get a grip that stays put without chewing up your hand like some aggressive stippling jobs do. Worth noting, this one is built for right-hand shooters and isn't designed to pair with ambi-safeties.
Luth-AR molds the Chubby Grip from impact-modified nylon, so it's tough and strong while staying light at around 3.4 ounces. Yes. The Luth-AR Chubby Grip is a direct drop-in fit for standard AR-15 and AR-10 lowers. It installs in the same grip location using the single screw and washer that come in the package.
This grip is designed for right-hand shooters only. The thumb rest sits on the left side and the palm shelf is shaped for a right-handed hold, so a lefty won't get the intended ergonomic benefit. Luth-AR does not offer a mirrored left-hand version of the Chubby.
Luth-AR notes the Chubby Grip is not designed for use with ambi-safeties. The grip profile can interfere with the second safety lever, so if you run an ambi setup you'll want to keep that in mind before installing.
It's a quick job that most folks can do in a few minutes with a single screwdriver or hex tool. Swap out your old grip, seat the Chubby, and secure it with the included screw and washer. Just snug it down firmly without over-tightening, since cranking the screw isn't necessary.
