If you have ever hiked a ridge with a leather sling slipping off your shoulder every few steps, the Limbsaver Kodiak-Air fixes that problem right out of the gate. The shoulder pad is built from Limbsaver's proprietary NAVCOM rubber in a breathable Air-Web honeycomb pattern that flexes and molds to your body while letting air move through it. That rubber has a naturally high grip, so it stays put on bare shoulders and slick technical fabrics alike, which is exactly where most nylon and leather slings start to wander.
NAVCOM stands for Noise and Vibration Control Material, the same compound Limbsaver made its name on with recoil pads and bow dampeners. On a sling, that translates to real weight distribution across your shoulder instead of a thin strap digging in. Hunters who carry a rifle for hours tend to notice the difference by the end of the day, and the material holds up in summer heat, rain, and freezing temperatures without getting stiff or slick.
An adjustable, ergonomic NAVCOM hand grip slides along the strap so you can set it wherever your hand naturally falls while hiking. It gives you extra control on steep terrain or when you want a firmer hold without shouldering the gun. The included Universal Quick Detach swivels use a high-strength composite body with a non-rusting stainless steel locking rod, so they lock on solid and pop free with a press of the pin.
This sling installs on most rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloaders that already have forward and rear swivel stud attachment points, and it works for right or left-handed carry. It measures right around 19.7 inches in its base length with plenty of adjustment, and the whole rig is proudly made in the USA. For anyone who logs serious miles with a long gun, this is one of the more comfortable carry options on the market.
It installs on most rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloaders that already have forward and rear swivel stud attachment points. The included Universal Quick Detach swivels handle the connection, so you can move it between guns pretty easily. If your firearm has factory sling studs, you are set.
That is the whole point of the NAVCOM rubber. It has a naturally high grip that holds to your shoulder even when you are wearing slick jacket fabrics or shifting weight on uneven ground. Most folks who try it find it stays put far better than a standard leather or nylon strap.
The adjustable NAVCOM hand grip slides along the strap so you can position it wherever your hand naturally rests while carrying. It gives you added control and a comfortable hold on steep or rough terrain without having to shoulder the gun. You can set it once and leave it, or fine-tune it as needed.
The Universal Quick Detach system uses a high-strength composite body with a stainless steel locking rod that locks in solid. To release, you press the pin and the swivel pops free, so it only comes off when you want it to. The stainless rod also resists rust in wet weather.
