Liberty created the OverWatch line by listening to special operations groups who loved the ballistic performance of the company's Civil Defense ammo but wanted deeper penetration. The result is a projectile engineered to expand rapidly on impact while driving 12 to 16 inches deep in gel testing. The large hollow point cavity fills with fluid and ruptures to create hydrostatic shock, fragmenting into a starburst pattern that generates multiple wound channels while reducing overpenetration risk compared to heavier rounds.
The black-plated brass casing enhances feeding reliability and gives the OverWatch its distinctive look compared to standard nickel-plated cases. It's reloadable for people who want to handload, and the lead-free copper construction means less barrel fouling over time. The 105-grain weight means manageable recoil compared to conventional 180 to 230-grain .45 loads, making follow-up shots faster and more controllable, especially for those new to defensive shooting or running smaller-frame 1911s.
