The Kick-EEZ Large 1/2" All Purpose Pad is the go-to fix when you want to take the sting out of your shotgun or rifle without adding a bunch of length to the stock. What sets these apart is the material. Kick-EEZ pads are made from Sorbothane, a proprietary visco-elastic polymer that's been tested to absorb up to roughly 94% of shock. Instead of just slowing the recoil down, it redirects that energy out the sides of the pad rather than straight back into your shoulder. There are no air pockets or metal plates buried inside, and the material has a near-perfect memory, springing back to shape after thousands of rounds without bottoming out.
This is a grind-to-fit pad, meaning it comes oversized on purpose so you can sand it down to match your stock exactly. The screw holes are spaced 3 1/8" center to center, and the solid Sorbothane construction lets you grind right down to within about a half inch of the hole. Keep the sander in the 1700 to 2500 RPM range, start with 80 to 100 grit, and finish with 220 for a smooth, factory-looking edge. Skip the high-speed Dremel, since heat buildup is the one thing this material doesn't love.
Once it's ground to shape, radius the heel, toe, and sides so the gun mounts smoothly to your shoulder and slides up out of a low-gun position without snagging.
