There's a reason the .220 Russian case from Lapua has a near-mythical reputation among precision reloaders. It's the brass that built benchrest. When you want cases that come out of the box ready to deliver consistent volume, concentric necks, and primer pockets that stay tight through cycle after cycle, this is the standard everybody else gets measured against.
These are brand new, unprimed cases that use a small rifle primer pocket. Lapua draws the case heads exceptionally hard, which is what gives them their long service life and keeps primer pockets snug even after repeated firings. The body and neck are held to strict dimensional tolerances, and the neck and shoulder are annealed so the brass can take full-length or neck sizing again and again without cracking out early. That combination of hard base and properly stress-relieved neck is a big part of why reloaders routinely get dozens of loadings out of a single case.
More than ninety percent of serious benchrest competitors use Lapua .220 Russian cases as the starting point for 6mm PPC. The case is also the parent for the .22 PPC and the 6.5 Grendel, so if you're forming wildcats or shooting PPC chambers, this is the raw material you build on. The uniform wall thickness translates directly into concentric loaded rounds, and that concentricity is what puts bullets into the lands square and keeps groups tight.

They ship brand new and unprimed. You'll need to prep them to your preference, add your own primers, powder, and bullets. Many handloaders like to run them through a quick case prep before the first firing, though Lapua's tolerances are tight enough that minimal work is usually needed.
