The forward assist is one of those parts nobody thinks about until they need it, and Lantac decided the standard mil-spec version could be a lot better. The UFA-S is precision Swiss lathe turned from certified 4140 Cr-Mo steel, which bumps up strength, corrosion resistance, and durability over the factory materials most AR-15 builds ship with. All the internal parts are heat treated to 48-52 Rockwell C and run through a QPQ (Quench Polish Quench) nitride process, so you get that deep black finish that holds up to sweat, weather, and years of range time.
Lantac didn't stop at the metal. The main plunger spring is made from stainless 316 music wire for better corrosion resistance, and it uses closed-end coils instead of the original open ends for cleaner seating and alignment. Springs are stress relieved and air cooled, and even the plunger detent spring gets an upgrade to zinc-plated music wire. It's the kind of attention to the small stuff that separates a real upgrade from a cosmetic swap.
