The LANTAC Dragon Plan B Long is one of those parts that does two jobs well. It's a serious .30 caliber muzzle brake that flattens out recoil and keeps your muzzle from climbing between shots, and it's built on the Plan-B HUB mounting system, so when you're ready to run a compatible suppressor it's already set up to accept one. That combo is exactly why it's earned a following among folks running .308, 6.5, 300 Blackout, 300 Win Mag, and .338 builds threaded 5/8×24.
The heart of it is LANTAC's Short Energy Pulse system. Instead of letting the recoil impulse from each shot drag out and stack up on the next one, the porting shortens that pulse so the energy doesn't overlap and shove you off target. In plain terms, the rifle settles back into position faster and stays flatter during quick strings. The vertical top ports work against muzzle flip while the side ports keep things from jumping sideways, and gas dumps fast enough that flash signature drops too.
This is the long configuration, which gives you more chamber volume and porting area to work with compared to the short version. Every Dragon is precision machined on Swiss lathes from AISI 4140 steel, hardened, then treated with a QPQ nitride finish for corrosion resistance and a long service life. Each one is serial numbered for quality control, and it ships out of the box with the timing shim set you need to get it clocked correctly.
Installation is straightforward for anyone comfortable working on a barrel. The included shim set handles indexing so the ports sit where they should, and LANTAC recommends a semi-permanent thread locker like Rocksett to keep it locked in place. If you plan to add a hub-mount suppressor down the road, follow the shooting guidance provided for the Plan-B HUB. Made in the USA.
This is the .30 caliber version with 5/8×24 threading, so it covers a wide range of common thirty-cal and larger bore builds including 6.5, 7.62/.308, 300 Blackout, 300 Win Mag, and .338. As long as your barrel is threaded 5/8×24 and the bore diameter is appropriate for the round, you're good to go. Always confirm your muzzle threads before ordering.
Plan B refers to the HUB-style mounting interface built into the brake. It lets the Dragon serve as a standalone muzzle brake while also acting as a mount for compatible hub-mount suppressors, so you can move between suppressed and unsuppressed setups without swapping the whole device. Follow the shooting guidance provided for the Plan-B HUB when running a suppressor on it.
It ships with the appropriate timing shim set so you can index the brake and get the ports clocked correctly. LANTAC recommends using a semi-permanent thread locker like Rocksett to keep it secured, which is sold separately. Installation is manageable for anyone comfortable with basic barrel work.
The SEP design shortens the recoil impulse so the energy from one shot doesn't overlap into the next, which keeps the rifle flatter and helps you recover on target faster. Shooters consistently report noticeably reduced muzzle climb and quicker follow-up shots during rapid strings. Like most effective brakes, it does redirect some concussion outward, so anyone standing beside you will feel it.
