The Lantac Dragon has earned its reputation as one of the flattest-shooting muzzle brakes you can bolt onto a .223/5.56 AR. Its whole job is to keep the muzzle from climbing and to knock down that rearward push, and it does both without any drama. If you run a red dot or LPVO and want to watch your reticle stay put through a fast string of fire, this is the kind of device that makes it happen.
The magic here is Lantac's Short Energy Pulse system. Instead of drawing out the recoil impulse, the Dragon shortens it, so the energy from one shot doesn't overlap with the next and shove you off target. A primary discharge chamber uses angled vertical porting to fight muzzle flip, while three additional open chambers give expanding gas plenty of surface area to push against, which is what pulls the recoil down. Lantac CNC machines the Dragon from hardened milspec steel, then runs it through a Tufride QPQ liquid nitride process. The Dragon is threaded 1/2-28 UNEF right hand, the standard pitch for .223/5.56 AR-15, M16, and M4 barrels, and it measures about 2.57 inches long at roughly 3.2 ounces. Worth knowing up front: this is a brake, not a flash hider, so it's loud and throws concussion out to the sides. Folks standing next to you at an indoor line will notice. That tradeoff is the price of admission for how flat it shoots, and most people who run one wouldn't go back.
It's threaded 1/2-28 UNEF right hand, which is the standard thread pitch for most .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO AR-15, M16, and M4 barrels. As long as your muzzle is cut to 1/2-28, the Dragon will thread right on. Double-check your barrel's thread spec if you're unsure, since some specialty barrels use different pitches.
It's a dedicated muzzle brake and compensator, built to cut recoil and muzzle rise rather than hide flash. Because it redirects gas out to the sides, expect more sound and concussion than you'd get from a flash hider or bare muzzle. That's the normal tradeoff for how flat and controllable it makes the rifle.
Yes, it ships with an appropriate crush washer for proper timing and installation. You'll want the usual armorer's basics like a barrel vise or upper block and a torque wrench to install it correctly. Many people also add a smear of anti-seize on the threads before torquing it down.
