Description
The Langdon Tactical Tech ATDCCTJ Steyr ATD Comp Compact takes Steyr's modern DA/SA platform and runs it through the shop that built its name on triggers. Steyr already did the hard part with a hammer-fired design, a cold hammer-forged barrel, and an optic ready slide. LTT then reduces trigger weight, overtravel, and reset while polishing the critical internals, so you get a smoother, more consistent pull than the factory gun straight out of the box.
What the Comp in Steyr ATD Comp Compact Means
This is the ported model. The slide and barrel carry Steyr's factory porting and integral compensator, which bleeds off gas up top to flatten muzzle rise and settle the gun faster between shots. Paired with the aluminum frame and a low bore axis, it tracks well and makes quick follow-ups feel natural. The 4" barrel keeps overall length manageable while giving you enough sight radius and velocity for serious work.
Trigger, Controls, and Carry Setup
Expected single action pull lands around 3.75 to 4.25 pounds, with double action in the 7.5 to 8.5 pound range, and the ATD trigger can even be set up single action only if that's your preference. The frame wears an aggressive textured grip for a locked-in hold, a Picatinny rail up front for lights and lasers, and fully ambidextrous controls that treat lefties and righties the same. A loaded chamber indicator gives you a quick visual check, and the updated decocker lets you safely lower the hammer.
Optics on the Steyr ATD Comp Compact
The optic ready slide ships with a full plate kit covering the most common footprints on the market, including Noblex/Doctor, Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, C-More RTS2, Holosun K/RMSc, and Meopta. That means you can mount almost any popular red dot without hunting down a separate adapter. With 20+1 on tap, tuned springs in the box, and Steyr's reputation for mechanical accuracy backing it up, this is a compact DA/SA that gives up very little to the full-size crowd.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Steyr ATD Comp Compact actually ported?
Yes. The Comp model carries Steyr's factory porting with an integral compensator built into the slide and barrel. This vents gas upward to reduce muzzle rise and help the gun settle faster between shots, which makes a noticeable difference during quick strings of fire.
What red dot optics will fit the optic ready slide?
The slide ships with six optic plates covering the most common footprints, including Noblex/Doctor, Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, C-More RTS2, Holosun K/RMSc, and Meopta. That lineup covers the vast majority of popular pistol red dots, so most shooters can mount their optic without buying a separate adapter.
What did Langdon Tactical change compared to the standard Steyr ATD?
LTT focuses on the trigger, reducing weight, overtravel, and reset while polishing the key internal components for a smoother and more consistent pull. The result is a refined DA/SA feel right out of the box, with single action running around 3.75 to 4.25 pounds and double action in the 7.5 to 8.5 pound range.
Is this a good choice for everyday carry?
It fits the bill well for folks who like a hammer-fired DA/SA setup. The compact 4-inch barrel, aluminum frame, and 20+1 capacity strike a balance between shootability and carry size, and the ambidextrous controls plus loaded chamber indicator add real-world usability. The porting and tuned trigger also make it comfortable at the range for training.
